I have a Ford fiesta finesse 1.25, 2005. What causes the brakes to be soft? Still operate when pressed hard, however pedal travells far when gentle pressue is applied.

Faulty master cylinder it will be by-passing fluid internally causing the pedal to fall away.

where is the master cylinder located and is it easy to replace
