ignition switch

you definitely have mechanical wear or breakage in the ignition switch. Here is how you can replace the lock and key in the diagrams below. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Once replacing a new ignition barrel and key on my ford AU2 falcon XL S how do i program it , so it can be recognized by the smart shield so it starts

I had changed the ignition barrel and key, because someone lost the keys and therefore tried to bust the barrel and hotwire it, so i replaced the ignition barrel with a secondhand one i got from a ford wreckers ,

Once i fitted it , it wont fire or start, the smartsheild keeps flashing but it wont start, i think it needs to be programed so the smart sheild can recognise the ingnition barrel and key

You need to re code the key reader and the keys, and you will require two factory keys with chips and not cloned keys.

I believe i have a stuffed ignition switch on my 2001 AU2 XR8 Ute, i have never changed one or know where to start? will i need new keys or can i use my old ones? will i need new door barrels as well? and will i have to reset them on the cars computer? im unsure on all these things because im not familiar with car electronics nor do i want to stuff it up any further

You can take the ignition lock to a locksmith and give him the original key, they can code the lock back to your own key so no re programming is requited and you still have one key, if you have got an original lock assembly you should have new wasted bolts, these snap off when tight so it makes stealing the car so much harder, and with that you will have to drill out the old bolts, now the steering wheel has to come off, there is a special tool required for this and the SRS system fuse must be removed first, with the wheel off the coming will come away and the lock fixings will be evident.... now saying all that, i have not had the pleasure of fitting an AU11 lock, but earlier models should be the same.

Hey, someone tried to break in and steal my Ford.. they destroyed the ignition barrel by drilling it out and also must have smashed the steering lock off.. I have both my original keys and and a transponder remote.. what is the best way to go about it?can I just unscrew the whole ignition barrel/steering lock unit and replace with one from the wreckers or do I have to do the whole column or what and if I do get the whole column (with keys) am I able to programme the keys myself?any ideas? Any help appreciated thanks!
Or would it even be possible to get a 2nd hand ignition barrel from a wrecker and simply have changed at a locksmith to fit and work with my 2 original keys to save me having to replace door lock and reprogramming keys etc ??

If they did that much damage I would probably opt to replace the entire column with one that still has all the parts working. Then for the keys you can have a locksmith rekey the replacement columns cylinder (or a replacement if they don't have the key to get it out) to your original keys. Depending on which pieces they damaged you should be able to swap over the good parts from your old column and if they didn't destroy the electronics you may only need to do a relearn. But it depends on what was damaged and what the vehicle is.
