Just recently I tried to test the 4x4 system according with the manual but after I engaged the 4x4 low I couldn't remove it, even I was following the instruction as described. I has followed instruction as read in some different web pages but still in the same condition. My inquiring is: Can I take out the transfer shift motor and move manually the shaft at the transfer toward the auto position in order to return the normal condition? I do not cause any damage to the internal mechanism doing this manually?

Yes you can and it will not hurt anything internal as long as it turns easy do not force or pry on anything it should turn kind of easy. Also make sure the tires are blocked because if you shift into neutral it will run you over.

Thank you very much for your soon reply. Please let me clarify some doubts, I should move the shaft at the transfer cage and as well I have to do the same in the shift motor, correct? In order went I install back the shift motor the socket fit in same shape. Ok, you mention something about to be sure the "tires are blocked". In what moment I have to check the tires blocked? Before o after to make the change? So far I understood the shift pointer has 3 positions, Auto, 4Hi and 4Lo. I shoul set my pointer at "Auto". In this position the tires are free of movement?
Thank you very much one more time for your attention.
