My 2005 dodge ram 1500 with 5.7 hemi won't take gas. The neck fills after a few gallons then the pump kicks off. It gets progressively worse the more gas I try to put in it...? Neck drains slow until empty...then I can put more gas in?

For fuel to enter the tank, air needs to escape. Check the vent along the filler tube.

Can I check the vent and filler tube without removing the bed?

I try to fill my gas tank with gasoline. After inserting the gas nozzle and squeezing the handle, the gas flows for about 4 seconds before shutting off. The gasoline is filling up the fill tube from the tank until it reaches the gas nozzle which causes the nozzle to shut off. After waiting a second or two I can continue to fill the tank for about 2 or 3 seconds when the gas backs up the fill tube to the gas nozzle. Is there a check valve or a filter on the top of the tank that could be stuck or clogged? My truck does not get driven often and sits in the garage. Any help would be appreciated.

There is no TSBs for a problem with filling the tank on any of these models. In the past when these problems have come up on other models the fix is replacing both the main and auxillary filler hoses.

Thanks for the response, what is the purpose of replacing the hoses? Is there a blockage?
