headlights are blinking then go off on their own

like in the question w/key off no lights w/hlmp sw. on or off. turn key on w/hlmp sw.off headilghts will come on and may stay on or may start blinking or sometimes go off. w/key on and headlight sw. on lights will start blinking almost immediately and go off turn hlmp sw. back off lights will come back on and may stay on but not all the time. impossible to drive after dark because you never know whats going to happen. thanks

it depends on whether or not you have hig intensity lamps or not, you haven't said. if you do htere is a relay in teh power dist box that cold be bad or a shorted wire, especially if this car was in an accident.if it has regular headlights then there is no relay. Then look for a short in the headlight wiring. it really has to be checked to give a better diagnosis than on the computer here.
