Conditions for Setting the DTC

DTC B0100 and B0103 will set when one of the following conditions occur:

A valid ID message is not received within 5 seconds of the front end sensor being powered up.

Status message is not received.

The SDM has failed twice to reset the front end sensor.

You have a fault with the front end sensors and it could be the sensors or its wiring circuit that has a problem.

- What should I do to disable it or have it service at dealership for diagnostic repair??
My 1995 Chevy pick-up Service Air Bag (SIR) light stays on.
I drive the truck during a heavy rain downpour and the light came on
"Service Air Bag." So what should I check to disable it or have it serviced at the dealership for diagnostic repair.
I look forward to your reply.
Dave in MA.

When the light is on, the system is disabled by the computer. General Motors has designed in a lot of tricks to make money after the sale. One of them is forcing you to go back to the dealer for service. An independent repair shop might be able to access the Air Bag computer to read the stored diagnostic fault code(s). Those will get you to the circuit or system with the problem, not necessarily to the defective part. Once repaired, if the computer needs to be reprogrammed, only the dealer can do that.
