Can I do some further testing to find the problem? Thanks

The.C0035 is left front wheel speed sensor do you have a multi meter to do some testing? Also the u1064 is lost communication with the bcm.

These videos will help us fix it

Thed speed sensor reading is good i posted the trouble tree for you to follow for the code C0035 hopefully its a active code meaning as soon as you clear it it will reset itself?

check the ignition b 50 amp fuse in the underhood fuse block,if it is blown it will cause a loss of communication.also i have seen many bad ignition switches cause the issue you are having.

I used the trouble tree charts, and adjusted the wheel speed sensor. The ABS light was coming on at every stop before, now it has not been on once, also erased the codes. But ABS still engages on a dry road(NO ABS light this time though). Anything I can do?

I would recheck the wheel speed sensor adjustment since that cleared up the light.Your going to have to get a scan tool that can you watch the wheel speeds to see which one is miss reading and causing the abs to kick on.Sounds like the wheel speed sensor is not reading the correct speed but not setting a code just causing the abs to kick on now.

First of all, determine that the abs code is related to your retrofit. It is a good possibility that a recalibration is needed, I am not certain if a ratio change will cause an ABS fault. I would be more apt to think it would cause speedometer, or speed related faults, maybe a check engine light.

MAy be a wheel speed sensor most likely, a harness or the abs unit. IT may be just a contaminated sensor that can be cleaned, which is common n the front sensor.

You need to get the codes read from the computer to start diagnosing.

Hello,

It sounds like you have a wheel speed sensor that is out here is a video to show you how to get the codes so you can figure out which one it is ior you can test the sensors manually using this guide.

There is no need for immediate concern. You probably have a bad wheel sensor on one of the wheels.
However, you should have a shop scan the ABS system to see whats wrong, as this is the best way to pinpoint the issue quickly without spending money on parts you do not need.

When the vehicle is started the ABS / Service Brakes lights come on along with a Service Brakes Soon message. The problem is intermittent and does not show up on every start. Shutting the engine off and restarting usually clears it. There are no active DTC codes associated with this problem so it would appear to be a false indication.

NOTE: In Jan 2014 the instrument cluster was replaced for an inoperable speedometer

Thank You.

that's odd but if it's an intermittent it may be hard to find. One thing to do as I see this is a diesel is to check both batteries for condition including load test.bad batteries with cause false codes otherwise wait until it becomes a hard or full time code. I know annoying you can also check connections as there may be a loose or maybe worn through wire. On my truck in winter I would have the same condition but it was usually snow getting on harness and pulling it down a little causing a similar problem

Both batteries were replaced in April before this problem started. Rechecked battery connections. Also have checked wheel sensor connectors and parking brake switch. Will check the ABS Controller connectors when I figure out where it's hidden. Hoping it will become a hard fault so I can fix it. It was raining the other day so I locked up the brakes in an empty parking lot and the ABS operated normally.

I am a recently retired heavy equip. mechanic and not totally lost on automotive problems, but this abs thing has got me. I was driving down the highway at around 65 mph and had a bad blowout on my right front. After i changed the tire and started the truck I had a amber ABS light. I have a Innova 3160 scanner and it shows a C0267 code. The scanner says it is low brake fluid, which it isn't. My Chilton service manual says it is(pump motor circuit-open or shorted circuit). Where do I start?

Thanks, Wayne

It is the pump motor related fault. Here is a video of the unit getting replaced.

https://youtu.be/lUotkKXG9dY

Also I would check the wheel speed sensor on the right front to make sure non of the wiring got damaged in the blow out.

Do you hear the pump run even with key off. There is a bulletin for this. The diagnostic process may require EBCM (abs module) separation from the motor, if it does not have a separate motor pigtail. It doesn't specify which do and which do not. The first thing I would do is clear it, drive it over 4 mph, and see if it resets. If it does, check the ABS 60A fuse in the under hood fuse block. If that is good, this would be the next step in the flow chart, and I am not sure if your scan tool is capable of activating functions;

Important: On some applications, it may be necessary to separate the EBCM from the BPMV in order to perform this test. Also, DTC C0268 may set when this test is performed.

Turn OFF the ignition.
Disconnect from the EBCM, the ABS pump motor pigtail connector. For systems which have no pump motor pigtail, it is necessary to separate the EBCM from the BPMV in order to gain access to the pump motor connector of the EBCM. Refer to Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement.
Use a connector adapter test kit in order to connect a test lamp between the ABS pump motor power and ground circuits at the pump motor connector of the EBCM.
Turn ON the ignition.
Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
Use the scan tool in order to perform an ABS Function Test.
Does DTC C0267 set?

If you can determine whether or not the system has a separate pump connector and let me know your findings, it will be a two wire connector with a large red, and black wire. The EBCM/BPMV are mounted on the inside of the left frame rail. The ground for the pump near the left front tire. I am not sure why this fault occurred after a right front blowout. Bear with me, I usually check the forum periodically through the day, and do most replies in evenings. I am done for this evening.

This video will help run and clear the codes

https://youtu.be/rTtAnsOlZU4

Please run this test and get back to us.

Cheers

My ABS and service brake system lights have come on three times in the last three weeks. The weather was extremely cold each time. It stays on until I turn off the ignition for a short period. Upon start up it does not come on. Should I be concerned? It seems to be related to the cold weather (-30 degrees C).

Hello.

i do not think ABS warn related to cold weather, there are many symptoms that makes ABS warn appear. problem can be from poor wiring connections, wheel speed sensors or its harness, relay for the ABS pump, the proper way to detect the problem to read the fault codes.
please send me the fault codes then i can give you complete trouble shooting for your problem.
thank you.

I just ran the code reader twice and the result was zero for fault codes each time. The ABS and service brake system warnings have not reappeared and are presently off.

After starting my truck this morning, the ABS light and the parking brake light stay on. Also, the message "Service Brake System" is displayed. I have checked the brake fluid level and it is within range. The lights were not on when I parked the vehicle. Please advise.

Chances are there is a broken wire or bad ABS sensor at one of the wheels. Have the computer scanned to see if there are any trouble codes related to the ABS system. Most parts stores will do it for free.

Let me know what you find.

Hi, my brother in law has a little problem; he has the truck listed above, he does not know much about cars. He said his ABS light illuminated. I checked the brake fluid and it is okay. Brake pads have about 75% life still. My question is, what can cause the ABS to light up?

Good afternoon,

When there is a fault in the ABS, the light will come on indicating a code is set for a failure.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/abs-warning-light-on-easy-repair-guide

It could be sensors or the pump but the code will lead us to a resolution.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/abs-wheel-speed-sensor-test

Take to a parts store and they will read the code for free for you. Once we know the code we can help you further.

If it doesn't crank, the battery is probably run down. Measure the battery voltage and holler back. You might try charging it at a slow rate for an hour too, then see if it cranks.

AHHH! Don't hit the starter, (except out of frustration). They use permanent magnets instead of field coils. They warn against hitting them in the training video because the glue can crack and let the magnets fall off. Then she's junk.

If you want to hit a starter, find a Ford.
