How do I reset the lights on the dash that read low tire pressure

make sure all tire are properly inflated, turn the key to on with the radio off. press and hold the DISP button on the radio for 5+ sec. until SETTINGS is displayed. Press the Prev or Next button to scroll. Press seek until Tire Mon appears on display. press next and RESET will show on display. Press the DISP button and Done will show on display.

The service traction system light comes on often what does that mean? And I always have the low tire pressure on aswell even though they check my tires and the pressure is ok on them it still stays on.?

You need to take the car to a gm dealer, and have your transmission scanned. There’s a problem with it and that’s why the ‘service traction system soon’ message is on. Also, try resetting your tire pressure monitor (there’re a couple of ways to do it; look in your owner’s manual).

I recently purchased a 2004 chevy Impala, and it did not come with an owners manual. I am trying to find out what the manufacturers recommended psi is for the tires. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

the tire pressure info should be either on the inside of the driver door or/and on the inside of your trunk or on the inside the glove box lid

for my 2003 impala, the recommended pressure is 32 rear and 34 front psi.

my low tire pressure light just came on and i was wondering how i could tell which tires were low? and how to get the tire pressure back on track? and should i do this asap?

BASSTECH is correct about the system not telling you which tire is low. It's purpose is to give you the warning so you can have time to slowdown and stop before the tire is so low that it can cause a hazardous situation. I'd venture a guess that most of the times that the warning comes "ON", that it's not a fast leak problem, but I personally had a situation where, after I had run over a metal object on the highway, the warning came on and I was able
to get the car off the highway and stopped before the tire went flat.

The system will not automatically reset itself. You, or someone, will have to reset it. The first thing you need to do is service the tires to the recommended pressure. Then perform the TIRE MONITOR RESET PROCEDURE that is in the Owner's Manual.

If you can't find it in the Owner's Manual, let me know, and I'll find it for you.

I had a few minutes to think about the Reset Procedure. I posted it to another Impala owner a few days ago.
Look at page 3 of the posts about 6 posts from the top of the page. Look for "2002 Chevy Impala Message Board Error" posted by will1464. In my reply to will1464, I gave him the Reset Procedure from the Owner's Manual.

if the car burns gas too fast what options could be at fault. Tire pressure doesnt have a dramatic effect does it?

what kid of gas mileage are you getting? is the check engine light on? do you smell raw gas when you drive it?

what is the recommended psi for my tires. i looked in manual and door cant find it

You should have a sticker on the inside of your trunk door.
I believe it says 30psi; but double check just to make sure.

How do I reset the low tire pressure warning light? My manual does not cover it and I checked, all tire pressures are within 1lb of each other. I had this happen one other time and the dealer reset it but says he used a dealer only tool to do it and charged me $30! Ya got any other options for me?

Special tool? Try this:

If you want to turn it off, turn the radio off and hold the DISP button for 10 seconds. This activates the setup menu. Scroll through until you see Tire Pressure and reset it. The car does not come with an active tire pressure management system. When it detects low pressure, you will HAVE to reset the light.

Also, I also read this but never tried it:

The easiest way to reset it is to turn the ignition to accessories and pull the interior light switch on and off three times. That should reset it.

Let me know if this helps. The first process I have tested and it works. The second one is new to me.

Disregard the part to clear DTC if you don't have the check engine light on. If you have the check engine light on, then you have to use a scan tool to reset.

What scan tool are you talking about? Also I tried the reset using the RDS radio and tire pressure monitor was not an option listed. Also, the process using the lights did not work.

I didn't write that one, but to the best of my knowledge, he is refering to a standard OBD II scanner that covers cars from aprox 1996 through today.

If you do a lot of your own work, they are nice to have, but if not, many parts stores will scan and reset this for free. If that is the case, stop at a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan and reset it. Most will do it for free, so there is no money out of pocket to try it.

Tried scanner and it did not work either. Could one of the sensors be broken? Where would I look to find them, on the wheel hubs?

The sensors are in the wheel itself. Here is a picture of one.

It may be a bad one, but I question why the light didn't go out and then come back on. Was the check engine light ever on? Also, you tried all three methods to reset, correct? Let me know. Joe

No, I only tried 2 of the methods. I do have an RDS radio, but the menu did not list anything for TPM reset. I tried the parking light switch method, I tried the interior light method and I used the scanner. Nothing. The low tire pressure warning light was on when I bought the car 2 months ago, I had the car at the dealer for a free oil change and asked the mechanic how to reset the light. He told me that only a special tool the dealer has can reset it. The tool cost $450 is available through GM. I picked up the car paid the $30 for the reset and it was good until last week when the temperature changed. Although that was what I was told, I don't believe GM would do something like that. Maybe I'm wrong. Also no chk eng light or anything else. Just this warning light.

When i bought my Impala the Low Tire Pressure light came on and has stayed on.. I am a first time car owner/driver and know nothing about cars. I took my car in for new tires but the light is still coming on and my gas gauge seems to go back and forth between 1/4 of a tank and 3/4 while i am driving making it hard for me to know how much gas i have exactly. What do i do?

There are sensors in the valve stems of the tires. chances are (if the pressure is good) one of the sensors is bad. You can have the computer scanned at a nationally recognized parts store to determine where the problem is coming from. Most of these places will do it for free. As far as the fuel gauge, does it stay still when you are at a stop?
