when i turn key on it takes a few seconds for the starter to kick in then it kicks off

if i hold the key all the way on the starter will kick on and off till i let go of the key but the car will not start i changed the starter switch still does the same thing can you help me

The first thing to do is have the battery "load tested". You need to make sure that it is good. It might have low voltage.

So you have had a load test done? What is the voltage on the battery?
