timing chain

Here are the directions I was able to find.

Remove the timing chain front cover.
Remove the camshaft sprocket bolt.
Remove the camshaft sprocket and timing chain.
Remove the timing chain dampener bolts.
Remove the timing chain dampener.

To install:

Install the crankshaft sprocket.
Apply prelube GM P/N 12345501 (Canadian P/N 992704) or the equivalent to the crankshaft sprocket thrust surface.
Install the timing chain dampener.
Install the timing chain dampener bolts. Tighten the bolt to 21 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
Align the crankshaft timing mark to the timing mark on the bottom of the timing chain dampener.
Hold the camshaft sprocket with the timing chain hanging down and install the timing chain to the crankshaft gear.
Align the timing mark on the camshaft gear with the timing mark on top of the timing chain dampener.
Align the dowel in the camshaft with the dowel hole in the camshaft sprocket.
Draw the camshaft sprocket onto the camshaft using the mounting bolt.
Coat the crankshaft and camshaft sprocket with engine oil. Tighten the bolt to 103 ft. lbs. (140 Nm).
Install the timing chain front cover.

I am try to change the timing chain. Do I need to remove the oil pan?

you do have to remove the oil pan, but it probably will not reseal if you do not. You can put RTV on it good and it should be okay.

For piston one to be at top dead center crankshaft timing mark is at 3 o'clock what does the cam shafts timing have to be at

Put no.1 piston to TDC then align the marks camshaft @ 6 and 12 o clock for the crankshaft-see attachment
