Yes it should turn freely. if you ran without oil it's probably locked up.

Yes if its on solid then there is a issue with your security system. Most likely a bad iginiton switch. The only way to tell for sure is have your body control module scanned for codes. If you have a b3033 and or b2960 bad ignition switch.

Just the basic tester will only read engine and transmission codes not body control module codes. it takes a advanced expensive scan tool to read body control module codes. so does their basic scan tool power up of the OBD 2 connector? if not you have a blown fuse.

That fuse being blown will not cause a car not to start. it will only cause the scan tool not power on and the lighter not to work. you can try getting the code read at the auto parts store but they're not going to be able to tell you any body control module codes.

i understand that but what i mean is the car almost started yesterday and then it died out maybe 10 seconds later so i dont think it can be the it can be the ignition switch thats not causeing it to start is there any other thing that could possibly cause it not to start

You said the security light was on solid when it wouldn't start so that would tell me most likely a bad ignition switch. you can check for fuel pressure see what it is.

Sounds like you spun a rod bearing from the lack of oil and now you have a rod knock.

well i did a little bit of research myself is there any possibilty that it could be the balance shaft sprocket also cause a bunch of people have had the same issue with the car and they found out that it was a loose shaft sprocket

When you run a engine low or out of oil the first thing that usually happens is the rod bearings start siezing then they break free and start moving in tbe rod between the crank and the rod.Other things happen also but the rods are usually the noisiest. You may have muktiple issues now since the low no oil issues.you can take a long screwdriver to help pin point where the noises are coming from.

Take a long screwriver and touch differenr parts of the engine with the screwdriver up to one of your ears.It always works great for me.
