my car bucks and hesitates when going up hilss

when my car is going up a big hill it takes a long time to shift gears and the rpms go up real high before it goes into gear . and when going into gear the car hesitates alot and bucks the front of the car while trying to shift but eventyly does shift. its been only been happing for a few days. thank you

Check the exhaust system for restriction and also the transmission could be slipping-check fluid level and conition-

It could be the engine that is causing the problem. Engine power has dropped and maybe it is misfiring causing the hesitation. This would result in late gear shift as well.
