2005 Buick Rendezvous Rear lift gate

Looking to buy an 05 Rendezvous. The rear lift gate would not open after the door locks button was pushed to unlock. The original key fob was not available when I was looking at the vehicle, so I don't know if it can be opened wit the fob. If not, is this a major problem?

it may be the actuator in the rear door or some other problem have it checked at a local shop by scanning to see what they think. Then you can get better pricing. if it's something like a module it can run about $500 to fix. Of course it could be a blown fuse which is under center console.
