2005 Buick Ranier Gasoline odor

There are several areas to check. First, check the filler tube for damage or leaks. Also, while you're there inspect the fuel tank for evidence of a gas leak. Next, open the hood and inspect the fuel lines and injectors for evidence of leaks. Use your nose to see of you can tell where the odor is coming from. If you still haven't found anything, there may be a leak in the evap system which includes several rubber hoses that can fall off or become damaged. The bad part of this is several of the hoses are above the fuel tank. Check the best you can. If you can't find anything, you will most likely have to take it to a shop to have a smoke test. They will actually inject smoke into the evap system so they can see where there is a leak.

Good morning. I have an '04 Buick Rainier with a strong fuel smell. Elsewhere on the internet, I've learned that vehicles in the northern climates where salt is used may experience corroded fuel return line(s) and a fuel accumulation on top of the fuel tank. There are not visible leaks, just a strong fuel order. Somewhere, there is an offer by GM to fix these vehicles if within 10 years and 120k miles. I'm in the process of looking for that information right now.
