My car is billowing smoke from the exhaust pipes and burning incredible amounts of oil. What are the chances that it is a failed turbo?

Turbo are really common problem but you should also have the PCV system checked out. If the oil trap is plugged up it will cause the same problem. If the PCV system is plugged then remove the oil trap box to inspect the holes at the block to see if they are plugged up with sludge. If it is you will need to remove the oil pan to push all the sludge out. If you try digging it out then sludge will push down the oil pan and plug the pick up tube screen. Soverify you have good PCV before replacing the turbo.
