2004 Volkswagen Passat Brake Pads light

My brake pads light has been on, today I went and got the front ones replaced because they we're really bad. The back ones are still decent. 2 mins after I drove off my brake pads light came on. Do I have to give it time for the sensor to pick it up?

No, it should stay off if the sensor was replaced with the pads (some pads come with new sensors, some pads need to have a new sensor installed).

If there is a wiring problem, the light will come on as well.

You need to have it looked at again.
