I have a 2004 Toyota Matrix (manual) that recently started making a scrubbing/scraping sound when accelerating. When the engine is at a steady speed, it does not make the noise. Or when I press in the clutch and coast, it does not make the noise. It does not happen when idling or when revving the engine. I recently had the entire clutch assembly replaced and the engine cover gasket replaced. I change the oil every 6000 miles and use a synthetic blend. I thought it might be bad gas. My tank was already half full so I finished filling it up with 93 Octane and added a bottle of gas treatment. Any ideas?

Does the sound change with speed? Have you checked to make sure the motor and trans mounts are good?
