I have a 2004 Grand Prix GTP. The tires are getting a little low on the tread side-might be time for new tires. Before I go to that expense though, I am worried about one thing. When I stop at a stop sign or start back up from a dead stop, the traction control light comes on and there is a pretty loud (well at least to me,it's loud) grinding like noise. Almost sounds like the 4 wheel disk breaks are going bad but I am worried it is something to do with the traction control. What to do what to do? Get new tires and hope the noise goes away? Sell the car before more horrible things happen with it?

have it diagnosed by brake place? or you could take wheels off and look at brakes youself? grinding is usually caused by pads gone down to metal and scratching/scoring rotors. or low pad warning tabs are making noise. the rotors normally have a smooth polished look. be sure to check both sides(inside/outside) surface. you can get the light read at the auto store to see what brake code is showing. new pads and rotors if neeeded may solve problem.
