where is the locations of the oxygen sensors?

Ther should be one in the exhaust pipe before the cat converter (4 cyl) on a v-6 there will be 2 before the cat converter, one in each exhaust down pipe or manifold. The are the only thing in the exhaust system with wires. Look around, you can find them

Engine Performance problem
2002 Pontiac Grand Am 4 cyl Automatic 73000 miles

My car was riding rough and the service engine light came on. The dealer said the diagnostic codes said it was misfiring. They changed an ignition pack and said I'll need spark plugs soon (at first they said it was a coil pack that needed to be replaced).
The very next day my service engine light came back on again. I took the car back and they're now saying it's because of the oxygen sensor after the catalytic converter.
Now, originally before I went to the dealer, the Midas Muffler company told me the problem was with the catalytic converter but I could go to the dealer and get it fixed for free because it was still under warranty.
I don't know who to believe...is the dealer nickle and diming me now until my warranty runs out or does this seem okay? Please help.

a cat converter will probably not set a check engine light or cause a misfire. the misfire is usually from the ignition system. the dealer repaired the misfire. the o2 after the cat could have been contaminated with the excess fuel from the misfire condition. if the cat is clogged, the engine will run fine at idle but will bog down under load. if the car runs fine, it is probably the o2. they do need replacing at recommended intervals or when they fail. a decent snan tool will show the data stream and you can see if the o2 is cycling properly. good luck

What is the code number you have there is two front o2 sensor on that engine bank1 and bank2 you don't want to change the wrong one.

The code was 02 htr ckt. B1 s1. So I have the sensor before the converter.

If you could give me the actual code number that would really help me find the info it's a P followed by a four digit number.

My Service Engine Soon light came on and was diagnosed with a P141 error. It indicated that the BB1 (Bank 1) Sensor 2 had a problem. The question is where is the Bank 1 Sensor 2 located on my 2001 6-cylinder Grand Am. Thank you.

It would be the downstream sensor, located after the convertor in exhaust system. The P0141 code is an O2 heater malfunction. These are heated sensors (4 wire). The sensor will have to be replaced.

I'm sorry i thought your engine had two upstream o2 sensor's it only has one.I posted a diagram of where it is sorry about that.I recommend using a o2 sensor socket to change it but you don't that's up to you.

I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am Gt 6 Cyl 3.4L and need to replace the upstream oxygen sensor. I have had it diagnosed with code P0131. I just need a diagram of where the sensor is located as only the downstream sensor is shown in my repair manual.
