My transmission slips only after warming up. I had this issue a few years ago and having the transmission replaced didn't fix the issue but replacing the TCM fixed it. Now it's doing the same thing again and replacing the TCM again didn't fix the issue this time. I'm assuming it's either a faulty valve body or bad transmission fluid?

Hi,

It sounds like it could be a worn transmission, or a line pressure related concern. Before we jump to a pressure concern, is the fluid both clean and full? Does the transmission have a remote cooler and has the cooler been flushed?

Keep in mind, if the transmission hasn't been serviced, it could be related to a filter slowly plugging as the vehicle runs. Hence, it doesn't slip when cold.

Also, there could be a pressure related issue. There is a pressure control solenoid (see pic below) that is controlled by the TCM. It may be failing as well. However, we need to scan to see if there are diagnostic trouble codes being stored in any of the modules.

Here is a link that explains how to scan the entire can-bus system:

Let me know if you have already done that.

Take care,

Joe

Yes, the transmission fluid, when it wears out the transmission will slip. I would service the fluid, also let's run the codes to see if any are stored.

You must use the correct fluid from Nissan, or the transmission will not work correctly

Recommended fluid .................... Nissan Matic "D"

I have seen the fluid cause this problem more than once :) Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
