Hello,

To reset the security system remove the negative battery cable for 30 minutes, then reconnect the cable. Next, lock and unlock the doors using the remote. This will reset the alarm system and the engine will start this guide can help with instructions below.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-reset-a-security-system

Here are some factory notes.

Anti-Theft Systems

PROGRAMMING

NOTE: If a new Smart Entrance Control Module (SECU) is installed, a new identity code must be entered and all remote controllers must be programmed. If identity code cannot be entered, repair multi-remote system. See appropriate MULTI-REMOTE CONTROL SYSTEMS article.

PROGRAMMING > PROGRAMING NEW ID CODE

NOTE: This procedure will erase all previous identity codes and render all previously programmed remote controllers inoperative (until reprogrammed). All remote controllers to be used with system must be programmed at the same time. A maximum of 4 remote controllers can be programmed. Any attempt to program more than 4 controllers will be ignored. If same identity code is entered more than once, entry is ignored even though hazard warning lights will still flash twice.
1. Close and lock all doors. Erase original identity code(s) by inserting and completely removing key from ignition switch more than 6 times within 10 seconds. Hazard warning lights should flash twice. Turn ignition switch to ACC position.
2. Push any button on new remote controller once. Hazard warning lights should flash twice, indicating identity code has been entered. If identity code cannot be entered, repair multi-remote system. See appropriate MULTI-REMOTE CONTROL SYSTEMS article.
3. For each additional remote controller to be programmed, manually release door lock and lock again by using door panel switch and repeat step 2. If no additional remote controllers are to be used, exit programming mode by unlocking and opening driver's door.

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

I have a 2004 Nissan Maxima. The car had 2 batteries tested for it and they were both both fine. I put the battery in the car and the security light blinks and beeps. That is all it does. when i turn the key there is nothing. lights... windows... nothing works. Is there any way to reset the security without a key fob... I was never given one when i bought the vehicle

Hello,

Can you try locking the drivers door and letting the car sit for 30 minutes then unlock the drivers door. Watch when you crank the engine over to see if the security light is flashing. The fact that you have no electrical power for the windows seems strange. I would double check the battery cable connections and the fuses here is a guide to help you.

and

Check out the diagrams (Below)

Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken

Chances are there is a sensor that is bad in the drivers door latch. I would replace it.

Get both the alternator and battery load tested if okay double check all connection start from here. If its an alarm/security issue why will it die out when it was running for 10mins. Normally is should prevent the engine from starting in the very beginning.

Here is a guide

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-battery-load-test

No cranking could mean starter, starter relay, park and neutral switch, and igniton switch

We bought a used Maxima and never got the key fobs. We never use the car alarm. Finally needed to replace the battery and now the car won't start because we can't reset the alarm code. How do I find my alarm code and how do I reprogram it to the car?

Is it factory or aftermarket alarm? If it is aftermarket, the installer usually leaves a reset button on the driver side kick panel. Just press the button and turn the key to ON position. That should reset the alarm.

If is factory alarm: Make sure all doors, hood and trunk are closed, and use the key to unlock the driver side door. That should reset the system.

The anti-theft system seems to have a short. It has been a progressive problem. Now the keypad will no longer unlock the doors or fully disengage the anti-theft system. Consequently, though the car stars and the engine runs fine, the trans locks and the engine shuts down as soon as it is put in either reverese or drive.

I've already replaced all the anti-theft relays and fuses. But it seems the last resport is to disable the system.

How can that be done?

Hi there, This system i believe can not be bypasses , that is what i have been advised anyway... So i have added the full system check and test so you may be able to pin point your fault and get it up and going again. Mark (mhpautos)

dear friend

you must have the remote contrl pad to disable the alarm. check with the dealer to make one. to reset it is not that easy without the remote pad.

let me know what are the results ..thanks and good luck

Electrical problem
1993 Nissan Maxima 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 200000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I have a 93 Nissan Maxima I am unsure if it's a SE or not it states that it is a Sedan on the title. I have an issue with my alarm system it goes off consistantly and is very annoying. I cannot disarm the system by simply putting in the key and turning it to left then right or anything else it says in the manual. I have tried various options I have read on other pages which includes cutting into a light green and black wire and then connecting it to the chassis with no results, besides the fact that now when I plug in my connector to the battery my front blinkers no longer work but the alarm system still activates. The blinkers also dont work after reconnecting the wires I have cut. That issue may be a fuse blown from attempting to disengage the system I am not sure. All I am wanting to do is disengage the alarm system and have my front blinkers working even if this causes my alarm system to never go off again.. actually that would be better. I am in need of getting it inspected.

Well I finally just gave in and took it to the shop. They charged me only $48 apparently the blinker light bulb was burnt out. Since I wasnt wanting to fix the alarm, I was just wanting it to shut up they just took out the whole anti-theft box thing under the steering wheel, and everything is working fine now except the alarm which is fine by me I was sick of it!
Hope this helps anyone who may have had the same problem.
