my vehicle had no oil pressure and I had a shop to rebuild the engine. After engine was rebuilt, I drove vehicle home on a friday and it drove very well. vehicle was parked on driveway until Sunday morning; at which time my wife drove vehicle to church(distance of 6 miles from house). When she drove vehicle back home, it was surging and running very irratically. At some point, my wife describes it as the drive light was lighted and the neutral light was blinking as she drove it home. When she started to drive it onto the driveway(slightly inclined), it barely made it onto the driveway. All the while, the " service engine soon " light was lit up. What could possibly be wrong with this vehicle? .

Get the car back to the mechanic the did the work, there may be a bad earth connection causing this problem and they can do a scan to check for any unresolved fault codes, start here.

Thanks Mhpautos for your reply. and the followup to that story is that I have had the 2004 Endeavor engine rebuilt and after the engine rebuild was completed, I drove the car home and it was driven sparingly and two days later the started to drive irradically. When taken back to shop; the mechanic checked it and downloaded a code(P0735), indicating that a " Gear 5 incorrect ratio " as being the problem. I want to know what has to be done to solve this problem to fix this transmission?

This may well be a slipping clutch, best to go get an opinion from a transmission specialist as a hands on diagnoses is best here.
