How does the spring hold the inboard brake shoe on to the piston?

Hi, this question is about the floating caliper. And how is it assembled? I don't understand the concept of the spring. It is supposed to hold the inboard brake shoe to the piston but I can't seem to visualize how it works.

keeps the pads from moving. the moving is what gives you brake squeel.

The question I had was more how was the spring was connecting the brake pad to the cylinder

it is factory attached to the pad and snaps into the caliper piston
