My interior lights randomly come on and the dash lights will go out while I am driving sometimes it happens at the same time other times it is one or the other. Do you know what the problem is and is it costly to repair.

Sit inside vehicle and close all doors. Push lightly at each door panel at location nearest to the door switch and if the interior light flashes, that is the door you need to be checking for proper alignment/adjustment. It could be a worn door switch cover.
The only thing I see they share is the ETACS module under the center of the dash.It looks to be the controller for the interior lighting.
