How do you get it started

I had a timing belt break. Stopped engine right away. #1 piston/valve collide. I replaced all pistons,rings,bearings,honed cylinders and had head rebuilt.
Plug in all the elec.,plumbing,injectors and all is ready to go.Battery is up and never had any probs with starter.
Turn key and all that happens is the engine tyrns over. No fire at all. Check batt and starter again. OK.
Should have plenty compression. Engine is getting spark.

I am at a loss. Dont know what else to do.

what is the compression?? should have and do have is different. do not assume anything. start with the basics.

Compression OK. Just found out that the cams are different. If the guy who assembled my head put the cams in the wrong place, wouldnt that cause this same problem? Firing on exhaust stroke instead of compression?

it would effect the valve timing. how do you know he installed them wrong?? is that a fact or a guess??

Its a theory. I need to find out how to tell the difference and then I will be able to confirm or not.

part numbers will verify. you need to find them on the cams and call the dealer parts department to verify. some of the cams are stamped with I or E on them for identification.

Cams are side specific. Cant be put in wrong. However, when I took the engine apart, I noticed that the knock pins on the ends of the camshafts were 180 degrees apart. The camshaft sprocket has a groove on both sides so they can be installed that way.
Question is ...are the knock pins supposed to point in the same direction or 180 degrees away from each other?

the diagrams just show the marks lining up with the dents in the back cover. in most cases, the dowls do go up but not sure here.

The last URL only leads you to the same old info and only tells you where to point the sprockets and NOT the knock pins. The sprockets have grooves on both sides so they CAN be put on backwards.
Kia's website at kiatechinfo does not tell either.
