I am wondering if it is really necessary to replace the crankshaft position sensor as recommended at the 60,000 mile maintenance service? Also can you tell me why the crankshaft should be replaced at this time, please?.

Honestly, if it is recommended in the owner's manual, I would recommend having it done. It the dealer is the only one recommending it, I would let it go.
