2004 Jeep Liberty

Car running hot but not overheating after sitting for a while - Typically @ 1/2 on guage now around 3/4.

When AC is turned on the fan turns on about 15 seconds later anf then turns off right away. It will do this again and again but never stay runniing.

I jumped the fan to the battery and it runs fine.

I also swapped relays out.

Can the coolant sensor make this condition happen? I thought if they failed the fan would run continously so I didn't think this was the answer but I an running out of ideas

Appears to cycle on and off based on a temperature OK

Also checked the coolant sensor even though i didn't believe it had anything to do with the fan not running when AC on and it dropped 200 ohms after 2 minuted of running - It appears that this checks out fine

i am thinking it's normal for car to get hotter then usual before cooling fan kicks in to keep it from overheat. somewhere between half and 3/4.

Car always has run on the 1/2 line or below - This is something new - Also I have never had a car that the fan doesn't automatically run with the A/C - I beleive there is a porblem somewhere but don't know where

Are there certain cars with the fan doesn't run with the A/C? Maybe this is one but the difference in temperature is disturbing

yah fan should run all the time with air on. did you check relay? i think there's 1 for each function.
