2004 Hyundai Tiburon Car wont start...

I assume the connections at the battery are clean and tight. If that is the case, you need to get a helper, have him turn the key to the start position (where nothing happens), while you check for voltage to the smaller wire on the starter. It should get 12v. Do that and let me know what you find.

As far as the neutral safety switch, see if it will start in neutral.

I seem to have the same issue. The car will not start until I manipulate the parking brake, pump the clutch (6sp), the brakes, etc. Worse on cold days. Paid $100.00 for a mechanic to tell me he didn't know what it is! Thank you for any help you can give.

Since you are having the same issues and it has a manual transmission, have you checked the clutch safety switch? In the manual, it is referred to as an ignition lock switch, but in reality, it is a switch at the clutch pedal that allows the starter to engage after the pedal is pressed.

If you look at pic 1 below, I highlighted the switch I am referring to. Here is what I need you to do.

There are two wires going to the connector on this switch, a white and a green. The green wire should have power with the key start position with the clutch released. The white wire shouldn't have power until the pedal is pressed (key in start position) check both wires how described, clutch depressed and not depressed with the key in the start position.

Also, make sure the switch is not loose and the bumper that presses on the switch is not missing.
