Hello: I have a 2004 Honda accord. The driver's side air conditioner vents are blowing outside air and will not get cold. But the passenger side vents work just fine. All the vents are operated with the same controls. The fans are working and the air is blowing out but all vents on the driver's side (even the floor) won't get cold but all the vent's on the passenger side work great. Can you please help.

Thanks.

Hi nattie62,

Seems the air mix control is asleep. Try turning the control to max heater and then slowly turning it to AC. Might require a few attempts before it works out.

Air Conditioning problem
2003 Honda Accord Two Wheel Drive Automatic 140000 miles

AC blows cool but not as cool as should be from vent at far side of passenger side of car, somewhat cool from one vent in center of car on passenger side of center, warm from other vent in center of car on driver side of the car (these vents are side-by-side in center of dash), and hot from vent at far side of driver side of car. Replaced compressor and one hose. Worked well for one day. Same symtoms returned: hot on driver side and cool on passenger side. Uncertain what to do now.

Did they recheck for leaks after they replaced the AC compressor? The AC system is low on refrigerant, there could be a small leak somewhere. You could ask your mechanic to put dye in the AC system and check for leaks.

if the air mix motor turns out be working properly you could have a clogged evaporator that only gets cold on one side.it's not common but its been known to happen.check the drain tube underneath the car to make sure water is coming out and not clogging up the evaporator.

The temperature is controlled by the use of an air mix door that is operated by an electric motor/actuator. This door can be jammed or the actuator can be inoperative or have stripped plastic gears internally. This guide can help you see what's going on with diagrams below to show you on your car.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.
