repair fuel gauge

I have a 04 GMC yukon, the gas gauge broke, went way past full how do i repair iy just lays all the way to the right

I have fixed of few of those by disassembling the dash cluster and just carefully pushing the needle back where it should be. They sometimes falls past their peak point and drop down the back side of it's control.
