Trip computer panel light in dashboard

I have just recently bought a 2004 ford mondeo ghia and the light on my trip computer where the MPG, miles till empty etc is seems a little dull, I have turned up the brightness of the lights and its still dull, there is a light there but its not very bright, any advice please?

These vehicles seem to have an issue with said lights. The only cure that I can tell you is replacement of the component. They also had the same issues with the odometers. Actually, the will turn on and off.

I wish I had a better answer, but that has been my experience with them.
