Bad alternator "fried" my battery

I have a 2004 Ford Super-duty diesel. The alternator died & because of this, drained both batteries & truck died on the hi-way. Got towed to the dealership & was informed alternator was bad & needed to be replaced & 1 Battery was bad & needed to be replaced. Both batteries are less than 1 year old, but I was told the Motorcraft Warranty will not cover the battery, because the Alternator fried the battery. Does this sound right ? Can a bad alternator "fry" a battery to the point where it can't be recharged ?

Well the term "fry" refeers to an ALT overcharging BATT and boiling electrolite out is this what they say happened?

Yes. I was told by the Ford dealership that the alternator stopped working & that it drained 1 of the batteries so much, that it was "fried" & would no longer hold a charge & because it was caused by the alternator it was not covered by the battery warranty.

That can happen low charge can depleat plates of electrons and cause failure
