my headlights are not working and instrument cluster is acting up, why?

i just bought a used 2004 dodge durango slt 5.7l. i drive it all day with no problems,it gets dark so i go to turn on the exterior lights and they dont work and now my instrument cluster is acting up, gauges not working and warning lights coming on? whats wrong????

Hello,

Since none of the lights are functional it can be due to a faulty light switch.
A malfunctioning switch will not turn on the lights.
It the headlight switch located on the left of the steering wheel.
This switch can be tested using a multimeter by reading the internal resistance.

Another possibility is that the integrated power module is faulty. That module located under the hood next to the fuse block (see diagram below). It controls many of the light functions. Fairly common issue with these years of vehicles.
