how do i replace the shift cable in a 2004 chevy malibu...

my shift cable broke and my car will not go into park ... how do i access the part and whats the steps to remove it ... thanks

you have to pull the console up and take the clipsout holding it in place. same thing on trans end under h ood. it should come out then.pic included arrows denote screws on both sides to remove it.lift in rear to remove.
