Within the last 3 days the car has begun making violent jerks and thumps after coming to a stop and then accelerating. It feels like the car cant shift i honestly thought the transmission fell out after the last thump. It also occurs when just slightly applying the brakes and then back to the gas. I have checked all fluids, had all carbon build up burned off and had hoses and wires inspected.

Only 1 code appeared with the engine diagnostic test and that was P0801, would a bad EGR valve cause the issue?

Can you reconfirm the trouble code? P0801 is not listed in our database for this vehicle.

•P0801 – Reverse Inhibit Control Circuit Malfunction is found for generic description and is a fault with the transmission inhibitor switch, not EGR system.

P0401 is a fault with EGR and can afffect engine performance but not the transmission violent jerks.

Since you are not sure of the code, get it checked again.
