2004 Chevrolet Avalanche - Brake lights do not get brighter

I have a 2004 Chevy avalanche the tail lights come on but they do not get brighter when I press the brakes why is that ?? Need help

It sounds like the brake light switch is bad, but I would check the bulbs to make sure the filaments are good. Here is the location of the brake light switch so you can swap it out. Check out the images (below). Let us know how it goes
