I own a 2004 Cadillac Escalade EXT. I was driving normally with the air condition on and all at once, heat start coming from the driver’s side vents. After arriving home, I had to go back out. Turned the air condition on and were normal. I made another trip to the grocery and turned the air condition on and again heat begins to come out of the driver’s side vents. Keep in mind, the passenger’s side is fine. At this point and time heat still come out of the driver’s side vents. How can I resolve this issuer myself?

It sounds like you have a bad blend air door. These doors are designed to open and close based on if you want heat or AC. You have two in your vehicle, one for the passenger and one for the driver. It sounds like the driver's side is sticking closed.

I hate to say it, but they are hard to get to. They are located near the heater core. You may want to have a tech look at it.

Hi Jacobandnickolas, thanks for your quick reply. Since I have a bad blend air door, how to get to the bad blend air door? Removing the dash is no problem. I installed a new after market stereo sound system and had to remove the entire driver side dash. I can do the job myself, just need directions, where to find it, (inside the truck or under the hood), what to look for, what to avoid, etc.

On your vehicle, it should be in the vehicle under the dash (passenger side) where the blower motor and the heater core housing meet. You shouldn't need to remove the entire dash, but you may need to move some things around to access it.

Thanks guys for your additional support. I spoke with the Cadillac service dept and was told that (EXT) truck has three actuators with the same p/n (89018365). The service person did not know actually which one to replace unless I bring it in for a diagnostic. You and I know why. Since it is on an EXT and not the ESV, out of the three, which actuator do I need to replace and its location?

Hi guys, just a follow up on my actuator you were so kind to assist. I called the Cadillac service dept. and the truck has three actuators. Not knowing the one that was defective and located, I reluctantly took it in for repair. Their parts dept. sold this item at an extremely high cost so I purchased it at a parts store and saved 50% of the coat at the servicer dept. The amount I saved was off set in labor I’m sure. Well, it's complete and behind me.
