Hello, I have a 2003 VW Polo with 135k miles on the clock. Just recently the biting point is almost on the floor. When I am in traffic, the car judders slightly as if it's about to cut out. Could this be something nice and simple like a fluid or bearing thing or am I likely to be faced with a big clutch replacement bill?

Thanks,

John

you may have a pressure plate issue in the clutch . the free play sounds correct.

ok, thanks Roy. Yes, top of the pedal feels fine but it feels like it's at biting point when I have it in first gear with the clutch fully depressed.

I'm completely in the dark about cars - is a pressure plate issue generally a big problem or something that can be fixed relatively easily?

Cheers,

John
