I have an 03 jetta gl that just died at the stop sign of my neigborhood the other day. I had one of my frnds pull it back to my house... When it died the battery light came on and then I tried restarting it and it sounded junkie and then there was a single backfire... My battery is great brand new.. Couple months ago I changed out my crank position senser because it threw my "EPC" light...in other words limp mode. Very shortly after that the mass air flow senser went out so I replace that... Huh.. I just need help.. Not sure if it's out of timing or needs new altinator... I just checked my battery today and all my lights came on and it stilled tried to turn over then the single backfire happened... Also I read that it couple be that my coil pack has a crack in it and has seeped in moister or could be a ratio problem with my fuel and air.. Not sure need help?

How many miles are on your car? Also has the car ever had its timing belt service?Have you checked for codes yet?One cracked coil with moisture wouldn't cause the engine to die and not start would cause the engine to run rough though.

It has 140k on it as of now..I bought it with 130k on it. I have never had a mass tune up. I've had my oil changed that's all I have done to it ancestry I have had it... I just really don't want spend a butt load of money and not solve the problem like a lot of people with the same car and problem. I appreciate your time. My boss is a jack of all trades and he told me more then likely it's out of timeing!
