My tundra calls type IV automatic transmission fluid. It's $10 a quart at the dealer. I know there has to be a compatible fluid , would someone let me know?

There are some synthetic fluids that claim to be universal but I wouldn't bet my life on it. You can bet the correct fluid is cheaper than a couple thousand for a new transmission and IS what will happen with the wrong fluid.

I am sure Toyota don't have a refinery to make their own special tranny fluids. They may specify what is in the fluid that is made for them but I find it hard to believe that a refinery, just like drug makers, don't have a generic that is essentially the same thing. Unless I can find someone that I feel has good knowledge of the fluids, I will have to continue paying $10 a quart for the 14 quarts I need to have someone I can watch flush my trucks transmission.

You do as you please. I already advised of the risks and I am not exaggerating. I have seen many transmissions go south due to using the wrong fluid.

There are places that T-IV fluid can be bought for less money. Just Google it.

Here is one example
