Will a Corolla tranny fit a toyota matrix tranny? (model year 03)

I am aware that the toyota matrix transmission from 03-06 I think are not good, however I am trying to see what would be my best choice. My transmission is shot. I was told that corolla transmission will fit the matrix. What do you recommend be my best choice? Thanks
