Recently I took my car to the shop for a vibration when getting up to higher speeds. The car has 97000 miles. I was told it needs the following things and I wondered if these prices are fair and accurate.

Front brake pads and turn rotors $262
Major tune up with 2.7 hrs labor 470
Fuel system clean & service 150
Timing belt 850
Alternator belt and pwoer steering belt 203
Transmission service 192

Also with the transmission service, i was told that if it had never been done then it is better not to do it. I have only owned the car for about 10 months so I don't know what has ever been to the car.

To go down the list with you, the brake charges at $262 are fine. The tune up is a question mark, what is being done? This price seems like the quote should include parts/labor, what is that? Fuel system flush is not a good value for your $$ and it is usually just padding. T-belt seems high as the book does not allow for more than 3.5 hours, and the parts are 60 bucks. Belts are an hour at most and the parts price is maybe 50 bucks. I disagree with the trans service, it should be considered, but the shop is too high on several of the items and might not do the job to expectations. Warranty of the work is also unknown to me. So.. where do you stand on this?
