I was driving along and heard a noise and when I pulled the dome cover off there was a broken timing chain guide laying down in the chain. This was the noise that I was hearing. It looks as if there is the slightest of slack in the top timing chain where the guide was broken from.

Almost unnoticeable amount of slack. You need to find a replacement guide. A junkyard is a good place to look.

My pleasure. Yes, it can be expensive. Even if you do it yourself.
