fuel smell in 2003 Subaru Forester

Driving my 2003 Subaru Forester this morning (temperature about 4 degrees F) I smelled gasoline inside the car. My Subaru mechanic says that the fuel line is probably loose, and the car will be fixed on Wednesday. He says it's OK to drive meanwhile. Is it really safe to drive with a possible fuel leak?

If I were you be smart have the leak located before you drive don't take no chance-it can catch on fire-that's if its actually leaking-could be running too rich caused by one of the following below

1.Excessive fuel pressure can be cause by restricted fuel return line
2.Defective Oxygen Sensors.
3.Leaking injectors and fuel pressure regulator.
4.Coolant temperature sensor out of calibration.
5.Restricted air intake system.
