Yesterday I was driving slowly round a corner, approaching a roundabout, when there was a loud sound, like a spring being released, and a bang. I stopped to look at the car and the road, thinking I had hit something, but could see nothing. I continued to drive it carefully home (1/2 mile).
Today it has made a few spring-like noises, but not as loud, for no obvious reason, and rattles below the driver's front wheel when going over road lumps and bumps, such as manhole covers. What is the noise caused by and what should I do about it?
