2003 Saturn l200 2.2liter rough idle problems

If it does ok with throttle open, clean the throttle-body and idle air system.

If you think you have a dead cylinder, do a cylinder balance test. If a dead cylinder is located, check for spark--fuel-- compression.

Just to add to this one if it only does it at idle try turning the ac on let me know if it smooths out.There was a calibration upgrade on those cars to correct a intermintant low concern.When the ac is on the min idle is raised up.The older calibration files in the ecm was making the idle too low.

just to add another note, ac does not work. my pcv hose to intake(that is pcv right) has started to get oil in into my intake piping. My a/c compressor is a whole nother problem, even when i turn my blower motor on it pulls a constant load/surge ; off and on. without a/c button on. However im ill check that out with an a/c mechanic.

My coilpack wouldnt be problematic would it? Or does my leaking emissions oil into my intake have anything to do with this.

Please keep all your replies to the question you first asked posting a whole new question to reply to this one is confusing and very time consuming for the people answering the question when you reply to this question i put a reply to i get a email and so does the other moderator that replied.When you post another question we don't get a email get a email.So it only runs rough at idle?Also when you have just the inside blower fan on and not the a/c button pressed you have a surging idle?Have you had the battery tested made sure the battery cables were clean and tight and also had the alternator tested?Any trouble codes in the computer?

My bad, to reply; yes i have a surging idle with the blower fan on( revs up and down if i drive with acceleration). battery is fine reading 11-12 vlts no trouble codes.

with the engine running and at idle checking at the battery cables what is the voltage reading?Also you can't properly check a battery with a simply voltage reading it has to be tested with a battery tester.

voltage reading was 13-14, i guess i cant use a multimeter for that?

Yeah you can't use a multimeter to load test or test a battery.So you have 13-14 volts at idle at the battery?If so that sounds good so what will it read same test but you turn on the head lights a/c etc?

I got it undercontrol saturn tech. I put some of that plastic intake piping you get from advanced, unfortunately it breaks easy and the piece next to my throttle body sucked in. I heard a couple days back id figure my intake was coming off like it usually does. Id figure it was enough force to jack up one of my spark plugs especially those autolite junks. One of them was bent with hardly any gap, had to have been the plastic i sucked in right? The problems fixed Anyways dont slam me for it, the clamp around throttle body and piping was very tight, it had to be custom fitted or else the hood wouldnt close.

Glad to hear you got it all figured out i didn't know you sucked something into the intake that could have very well bent the spark plug gap closed.Hopefully it didn't hurt anything else.
