need some help

I started up the driveway this morning and I went to stop and I heard a loud bang.Now the rear brakes on the drivers side are squealing and it grabs when I mash the brakes.i took the drum off and as near as I can tell everything is put together like it should be any ideas where to start looking?

I would remove shoes, spring hold down springs, clean up everything. Also check the pads/drums for excessive wear and parking brake cable.


It sounds like a spring broke, or self adjuster.

Look at both wheels with drums off, make sure they are the same with regard to springs, adjusters etc.
