Heat Blend Door Actuator

The actuator will be on the HVAC system under the dash on the passenger side. It is attached to the heater core box.

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

Remove the instrument panel compartment.
Disconnect the temperature actuator electrical connector.

Remove the two screws from the actuator.
Remove the actuator.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Install the actuator

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Install the actuator screws.

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 N.M (18 lb in ).

Connect the temperature actuator electrical connector.
Install the instrument panel compartment.

My girlfriends Alero heater controls allow only the high speed on heater/ac control and the heat/ac only comes through the vents (not defrost, floor, mix, etc.). From what I've read on the net the blower speed problems can be resolved with a new blower resistor. Fine I can handle that but anybody have some ideas on the lack of vent, defrost, floor controls?

Hello The doors are control by a vacuum hose that is coming off of the intake manifold. I can't seem to locate that hose so you are going to have to search around. Since all the doors do not work, my guess is that one main vacuum is either not working or disconnected. I have attached the vacuum diagram for the doors as you see to the left..they all work off of the one main vacuum..that would be my guess. I have also attached the location for the relay and the resistor.

The vacuum hose im looking for is typically a small rubber hose? and coming right off the intake manifold? Sorry to ask but I can't read the writing in the pictures and when i try to blow them up they lose resolution

The vacuum hoses for the damper control are usually bright colored plastic. ie red, blue, black, etc. If you can't find a tube like this on the manifold, you may have to get to the back of the selector switch in the dash. Most common problem is loss of vacuum at the manifold or a bad selector control.
I'm in Minnesota, and heat is kinda' important up here. Hope this helps.

Bob Sorry for the delay. I was experiencing some minor technical difficulties Thanks Mr Weizel for assisting. I have attached some more pics for better viewing. The one with the red circle shows that the vacuum comes in from the engine and connects to the HVAC Control Assembly Valve. As you make the selections the vacuum should be present but changes direction and causes the doors to move. I have attached 4 more pics of the same thing blown up in 4 sections that overlap. Hope this helps. Let us know if not. Also please follow the advice of Mr Weizel. Most common problem is loss of vacuum at the manifold or a bad selector control

Hello One last thing You may have some recalls on your vehicle. The dealer may fix these for free. Please contact the dealer service department, give them the VIN number of your car and have them check on these to see if they apply to you.
