how do i remove the left most nut on the exhaust manifold?

REMOVAL SERVICE 
<< A >> POWER STEERING OIL PUMP AND BRACKET ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

With the hose installed, remove power steering oil pump and bracket assembly.

NOTE: Tie the removed power steering oil pump and bracket assembly, with strings at a position where they will not interfere with the installation or removal of the
exhaust manifold.


INSPECTION

Check the following points? replace the part if a problem is found.


Exhaust Manifold Check

1. Check for damage or cracking of any part.
2. Using a straight edge and a feeler gauge, check for distortion of the cylinder head installation surface.
Standard value: 0.15 mm (0.006 inch) or less Limit: 0.20 mm (0.008 inch

Note, you will have to remove teh heat shield to get to the exaust manifold bolt. pic included.

The farthest to the left nut is a 14mm hex nut. You can reach this and remove this nut and the manifold without removing the powersteering pump barcket and pump. Purchase a 14mm 3/8" drive crows foot wrench/socket. It is tight in there but with a little patience and agile fingers it can be done. If you clean the stud and nut off prior to removal with brake cleaner or powered degreaser, it will make removal of the nut easier by having the threads cleans, and you will only need to get a couple of turns on the nut with the crows foot wrench and will be able to remove the nut by hand. Did this recently for both my 02 lancer es and my 05 lancer oz rally.
