how do i adjust my window regulator so the window goes up/down completely and properly

hello, i had my mechanic replace a driver side window regulator on my car. but, now the window does not go all the way down (short an inch or so) and unless you stop the window just short of completely up it tries to roll itself back down. is the regulator defective or did he just not install it correctly? how may this be fixed? thanks for your time

The issue with this is the motor was not initialized. Any time you replace the motor or regulator you need to allow the motor to learn the new position.

Basically, you hold the up switch past the auto up detent and roll the window all the way up and continue to hold the switch for 2 seconds after it stops in the up position. This will train the motor to where the full up position is so that it can travel the full way down.

What is currently happening is the motor does not know where the up-stop point is, so it stops it short in the down position. Then when using the auto up feature it things it runs into an obstruction, and it reverses.
